scat fish

Scats are magnificent fish with cool green color with black dots over the body. Scats have many close resemblances of butterfly fishes. I Saw the Scat fish for the first time in my school library. I was stunned by its appearance and its movement. Its swimming style will be cool to watch. Scats have spines at its top fin. If they get threatened they will raise its top fin with the spine. They will look cute and some times alarming when they raise their spines. They use their spines for defending them self by stinging. Their stinging will create pain for some time. This quality is even seen in the young scats. They have a property to change their color. It depends on the water,temperature,the aquarium setup. They will become pale brown or half dark according to the change in surrounding. I am a biggest fan of scats. Only drawback of scats is, they are more aggressive and they cannot be put up with other soft characteristic fishes. I tried to putting the young ones with gold fish. But even young fellows started attacking gold fish : ( They attack the fins first and damage the gold fish fins. I wonder how the young scats have such guts to attack bigger gold fish. Imagine button a sized scats attacking a billiard ball sized gold fish : ) Young scats will have hard covering on its body, the hard part covering will slowly goes off once the gets the grown up stage. Even butterfly fishes have the same property. Scats are very active fishes. Keeping a community of scats will be an awesome setup in the aquarium…

flower horn fish

One of the basic thing which we need to take care, While keeping an aquarium is the group of fishes, we keep should be of same qualities. We cannot keep aggressive fishes with the soft characteristic fishes. Some times very rarely aggressive fishes go along peacefully with the soft characteristic fishes. It happened for me once. I kept flower horn fish with Fan tail gold and angle : ) At that time I don’t know about flower horn fishes. I bought a small pair of flower horn fish and left in my tank. I used to feed only pellets and rarely worms. My tank was not so big at that time. It was arround 12 yrs back, I had only a small tank. I think flower horn was not so aggressive, as it was grown from its young age with the other buddies. One of the flower horn died in few months :‘( But the other one was with me for more than one year : ) I was surprised how it was so calm in my tank. its hump started coming into good shape. Its green dots were the highlight of it. I used to keep my tank in the sun light area. Its green dots will glow like neon lamps : ) His size will be my size of my hand… OMG I still remember its color and its fearsome look… Though he was grown up he did not show his aggressive nature in harming other fishes. He used to swim faster only when I feed the pellets. He will eat a lot .. he used to open his mouth very wide for the gulp. In one gulp most of the pellets will go in : ) After the feeding time, He will calm down in piece … he is such a sweet heart. I did a mistake by not covering my tank. my brave fellow jumped out of my tank when I was not at home.. I miss him a lot…………. :’(

Cute fish

I had a pair of small puffer fish. I accidently bought with the team of scat fish. both fish had same color. I bought 3 pairs of scats and when I came home I saw one of the pair is the cute puffer : ) The young puffer fish color is shiny green with black dots. It can change its colors, some times it will be greenish and some times it will be pale yellow color. Normally at morning time it will be greenish in color. There size can be compare with gems collate size. They are so cute while they are swimming its head will be bigger and its tail will be very small. It swimming style will be also cool. It swims as though, it swims in a slow motion. It takes lot of brakes during swimming. It will be magnificent to see him swimming while it’s inflated. It has a cute distinction of its lips from its body. It eyes will be very cute and it can rotate its eyes in different direction independently. The best feature of puffer fish is it will change its body shape into round ball when it get fears. It will engulf water and increase its elastic body into ball shape. The ball shape will be bigger than its actual size of its body. It will blow itself to frighten other fishes. The puffer fish which I kept does not had spikes in its body. Puffer with spikes will be deadly in looks when it changes its shape. Puffer fish is a bit aggressive fish. it will attack other soft fishes. When I kept puffer with me, I don’t that it’s very toxic. : ) Luckily nothing happened to my other fishes or to me… Puffer is the strangest fish of my aquarium history.

Lion fish

Lion fish, the fish with a amazing appearance. Its fins and its color is the special feature of the lion fish. I am a fan of lion fish. Though its venomous its characteristics does not seems to be aggressive in its movements. Its very rate to sight lion fishes near my area. They are very sensitive fish and keeping it in aquarium is a hard task. Tank should be maintained with care. Lion fishes mostly prefer live feeds than the processed foods. I had a chance to closely, observe the characteristics of young lion fish at my office aquarium. It was a cute little lion fish. its size is smaller than a pointing finger. It’s a red lion fish. its fins are cute and bright. It swims very slowly with a glamorous appearance… daily I will spend some time with the little fellow. Lion fish will raise its fins if it get fear. Bigger lion fish will be fearsome when it raises its fins. We must carefully handle it, if we keep a lion fish at home. Its spines are poisonous. Though the effect will not be fatal but it causes severe pain. I tried feeding it with the fish pellets. But the little one will rarely have it. I rarely see him attacking other fishes. It will swim all around the tank. It was there for only 2 months, I felt very bad when it could not make out. I miss my little lion now :’(

Carps & White sharks.

My friend took me to a fish farm, which is near his home. I was amazed to see the fish farm for the first time in my life. it had lots of long cement tanks with lots of fishes in it. The water in the tub is full of green planktons. I was stunned to see some fishes in mammoth size… I was stunned to see fully grown carps. I cant even compare my carps with them. Each carps where coming nearly to my size of my hand … That too their colors are amazing and very attractive. Their colors were shining in sunlight which added more beauty to that area. Mostly all the carps will be coming up for oxygen & food , I used to touch them when they are at the top of the tank.. they will open their mouth widely. When I was touching the carps my finger went inside one of the carps mouths : ) I was afraid that it will bite with its teeth. But lucky it left my finger. I could not even sense its teeth. There are many colored carps were there in that I love red and white combination color carps. I saw some fresh water tiger sharks too they were equal in size of carps. I saw both black and white colored sharks. They are very calm fishes I never seen them attacking other fishes. Some time carps can even attack the small fishes but fresh water sharks will not. I love their qualities. I saw some big size angle, Gold and mollies fishes which was kept for breeding. I saw the young gold fish and angel fishes which got hatched out from the eggs. They are so tiny that we can see only dots of red , white and black : ) They are soo cute.

Pink clown fish

Clown fish is a cute little fish. it’s a sensitive fish with cute characteristics. I saw pink little clown fish for the first time at a salt water aquarium near my home. I got attracted to it. I was amazed to see its bond towards its family and its best friend anemone. Their combination is awesome. Clown fish use anemone as a medium of protection in wild. Clown fish will also protect anemone from the small fishes which tries to feed the anemone. They are best partners I like the light green anemone a lot. It will have small tentacles and it will look like a cute grass land. After seeing the clowns from the shop I started going to that shop every week just to see the cute little clowns and the best buddy anemone. Clowns and anemones mostly live in continental reefs. I had a chance to go to Andaman and Nicobar islands. It’s called jewel of India. It’s a awesome place, I love the place very much. I was lucky to go to meet clowns in wild : ) I went for sea diving at jewel island. OMG I will never forget the experience … That was like a paradise below the sea. I went near the corals and I was stunned to see the beautiful corals and the fishes. I saw corals in different colors. Reaching to the sea bed will not be easy like reaching to the bottom of fresh water river or swimming pool. I saw the beautiful community of butterfly fishes, clowns and parrot fishes. I even saw young sharks going in group : ) That day below the sea is a best day in my life. I felt like I was in a heaven for some time. We need to protect this beautiful under world heaven….

My first Glass Aquarium

My first glass fish tank is a small sized tank. I bought in a small shop near my home. I kept a small underwater gravel filter on that tank. All the fishes I bought are young fishes, they are zebra fishes, a pair of carps, a pair of black, white molly’s and pair of tiger fishes. The cutest fish of my tank is the tiger fish. i made a mistake by leaving tiger with the mollies. Tiger fish is a tough guy. It will attack the other fishes : ( initially I thought that the food was the problem. But they are well known for their dominance. The color of the tiger is the highlight. Yellow with black strips and orange lower fins and a black top fin. The color of the tiger fish will look brighter at cold conditions. Normally they swim with the top fin in lower state. But in early morning they always swim with their top fin upright. Like the Sharks top fin : ) They will be amazing in looks when they swim in that fashion….

My first fishes

I love fishes very much. I started keeping aquarium at my young age. i love to go near rivers ,lakes, wells ,canals etc. I used to sit near the water and I will keep admiring the cute fishes. When I was around 4 years I used to go to river with my dad every Sunday. I like to jump into the river and be with the fishes : ) I will try to catch them in all the means but that task will be a impossible task for me. I still remember a needle fish which was pure florescent color. The fish in the day time will glow beautifully …. I was so attracted by its appearance and its impact is still with me after many years. At summer the river water depth will be lower at some part of the river. That will be best time to catch fishes. I found a way to catch fish finally : ) I used to dig big U shaped hole in the sand near the edge of the water flowing area. When the river water runs the small fishes will also come with the water current. I will keep my hand blocking the fishes and pushing them towards the U shaped hole. If more fishes are coming on the current some fishes will be trapped in the hole. i caught 4 silver fishes successfully once. I took them all to my home and kept them in a big water tub : ) 4 of them was with me for many years. When ever put some feed for them I will be very happy to see them coming up and having it : ) Some times I also used to play with torch at nights. I will point the light exactly to their swimming spot. Their shells will be glowing when the light is focused over them…
